Designed in 1978 by the head of Hermès’ equestrian department, Evelyne Bertrand, the namesake bag debuted as a functional carryall for horse groomers – the perforated ‘H’ originally faced inwards to ventilate tools. It was used exclusively by the riding branch before transferring to the leather goods department in the early 2000s, resulting in designs like this mini brown iteration, which is marked by its adjustable canvas shoulder strap. It’s crafted in durable and scratch-resistant Taurillon Clemence leather with a flat grain and boasts a leather belt-style closure that remains true to the prototype.
